My partner and I are heading to Paris for our anniversary next month and we really want to avoid the typical crowded tourist traps like the Eiffel Tower or the Louvre. We love walking through quiet neighborhoods, finding hidden gardens, or just sitting at a cozy cafe that doesn't feel like a tourist hub. Does anyone have recommendations for places that feel a bit more intimate and romantic? We're open to exploring areas outside the city center if it means getting a more authentic vibe.

You should definitely check out the Butte-aux-Cailles neighborhood in the 13th. It feels like a village within the city, very winding streets and almost no tourists.

Seconding the Butte-aux-Cailles recommendation! It's one of my favorite spots to just wander around in the evening.

If you want a romantic garden that isn't the Tuileries, go to the Musée de la Vie Romantique. It has a beautiful courtyard cafe that is super quiet and intimate.

Oh, that place is lovely, but it gets pretty busy on weekends now. Try going on a Tuesday morning if you can.

Head to Parc des Buttes-Chaumont in the 19th. It's hilly, has a temple on a cliff, and it's where the locals actually go to hang out.

Honestly, just skip the center entirely. Take the RER out to the Parc de Sceaux. It's stunning and feels like you've left Paris for the countryside.

Isn't Sceaux a bit too far for a short trip? I'd stick to the 11th or 20th arrondissements for that authentic vibe.

Check out the Promenade Plantée. It's an elevated park built on an old railway line, similar to the High Line in NY but much more charming and less crowded.

The Promenade Plantée is great, but make sure you don't go during rush hour as it gets packed with commuters.

For a cozy cafe, look for places in the 12th near Rue d'Aligre. There is a great market there and the surrounding cafes are very 'real' Paris.

I love the Aligre market! Grab some cheese and wine and head to a nearby square. It's the best way to spend an anniversary afternoon.

Try the Petit Palais garden. It's hidden in the back and usually forgotten by the huge crowds visiting the main exhibits.

I second the Petit Palais. The cafe there is a hidden gem for sure.

If you really want to avoid crowds, just avoid the 1st, 4th, and 7th arrondissements. Stick to the 10th, 11th, and 19th.

That's solid advice. The 10th along the Canal Saint-Martin is perfect for a romantic sunset walk.

Try walking through the Jardin Catherine-Labouré. It's a tiny, walled garden in the 7th that most people walk right past without noticing.

Enjoy your anniversary! Paris is still magical if you know where to look.
