I'm currently looking to plan a trip to Europe for next summer and I really want to catch a few major music festivals while I'm there. I'm mostly into electronic and indie rock, but I'm having a hard time narrowing down which ones are actually worth the travel and ticket costs. Are there any hidden gems that aren't as overcrowded as Glastonbury or Tomorrowland? I'd love to hear your recommendations for festivals that offer a good vibe without being completely impossible to navigate. Any advice on logistics or accommodation would also be super helpful.

If you want indie rock with a great vibe, you absolutely have to check out Primavera Sound in Barcelona. It is way more manageable than the massive UK festivals and the city location makes accommodation much easier to sort out.

I second the Primavera suggestion, though it can get pretty hot! If you want something more laid back, look into Pukkelpop in Belgium. It's got a great mix of electronic and indie stuff.

Honestly, avoid Tomorrowland if you hate crowds. It's a nightmare to navigate. Try Exit Festival in Serbia instead, it's held in a fortress and the energy is unmatched.

That's a great point about the fortress setting. Is it easy to get to by train from other major hubs?

Check out Melt! Festival in Germany. It's right on a lake and features these massive industrial cranes. It’s perfect for electronic music fans.

Melt! is incredible, but bring earplugs because the bass is intense! Also, make sure to book your camping spot early if you want to stay on-site.

If you're into indie, check out End of the Road in the UK. It’s significantly smaller than Glastonbury, super chill, and the lineup is always top-tier for indie lovers.

Does End of the Road have good transport links? I'm worried about getting there without a car.

For logistics, always look for festivals that offer 'glamping' or pre-pitched tents. Carrying a tent across Europe is a total pain and not worth the hassle.

Great advice on the pre-pitched tents. I learned that the hard way last year at Sziget!
