I'm planning a solo trip through Europe next month and I'm really looking to focus my itinerary around the best street food scenes. I've already been to Berlin for currywurst and Istanbul for simit, but I'm looking for some hidden gems or cities that truly excel at quick, authentic bites. Are there any spots you'd recommend where the local street food culture is actually worth the flight? I'm hoping for places that aren't just tourist traps and offer a good variety of snacks. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Palermo in Sicily is an absolute must. The street food there is legendary-try the arancine and panelle, it's cheap and incredibly authentic.

Seconding Palermo! I spent a weekend there just eating my way through the Ballarò market. It's an experience you won't forget.

Don't overlook Lyon, France. It's not just fine dining; the bouchons offer some amazing quick bites that are very different from your typical fast food.

Honestly, skip the touristy parts of Paris and head to Marseille for some incredible panisse and fresh seafood snacks near the port.

Have you considered Belgrade? The pljeskavica is life-changing and you can find it on almost every corner.

I second the Belgrade suggestion. It's definitely not a tourist trap and the food is super hearty for a solo traveler on a budget.

Porto is fantastic. You have to try the Francesinha, though it's more of a sit-down snack than street food, it's basically the city's soul.

If you want something unique, go to Brussels for the fries and waffles. Yes, it's popular, but the quality is top-tier if you avoid the main square.

I think Brussels is a bit overrated, honestly. Antwerp has much better hidden gems for foodies.

Athens is underrated for street food. Grab a koulouri on the go or some souvlaki from a small stall-it's cheap, fast, and delicious.

Totally agree about Athens. The souvlaki there is leagues ahead of what you find in most other European capitals.

Valencia is amazing for horchata and fartons, plus the local markets are perfect for wandering with a snack in hand.

Check out Budapest. The lángos is incredible, especially if you find a spot that does it fresh and hot.

Budapest lángos is great, but don't eat it right next to the Parliament building, walk a few blocks into the Jewish Quarter for better prices.

Warsaw has a really cool modern street food scene right now, lots of pierogi bars and craft food trucks that are surprisingly high quality.

I'd suggest Naples. It's basically the birthplace of affordable, high-quality street food. Pizza fritta is a game changer.

Naples is chaotic but the food is worth the stress. Definitely try the cuoppo di pesce (fried seafood cone) while walking around.

Don't sleep on Ljubljana in Slovenia. It's small, but the open kitchen events they host are a goldmine for local snacks.

Thanks for all these suggestions! I think I'm leaning toward Palermo and Naples now, sounds like a dream trip.
