I'm planning a trip across Europe this summer and I'm trying to decide between booking with Ryanair or EasyJet. I've heard horror stories about Ryanair's strict baggage policies and hidden fees, but their prices are often unbeatable. On the other hand, EasyJet seems slightly more reliable but I'm not sure if the price difference is worth it. Does anyone have recent experience with either of these, specifically regarding customer service and carry-on restrictions? I'd love to know which one you prefer for shorter city-break flights.

Honestly, it really depends on your destination. Ryanair flies to some very remote airports that they claim are 'near' major cities, which adds a huge cost in shuttle buses.

Totally agree with the airport location point. Ryanair's 'Paris' airport is basically in another country. Stick to EasyJet if you want to land closer to the city center.

I fly both regularly. Ryanair is fine as long as you treat it like a bus service and don't expect any luxury. Just weigh your bag at home and you won't have issues.

Exactly, the 'horror stories' are usually just people who didn't read the baggage dimensions. If you follow the rules to the letter, Ryanair is perfectly fine.

EasyJet's app is way better and their customer service is slightly less painful if something goes wrong. I find the boarding process much less stressful with them too.

I've had two flights cancelled by EasyJet in the last year and getting a refund was a nightmare. Honestly, they're all the same when things go south.

Have you considered just paying for the priority boarding on Ryanair? It solves the carry-on anxiety and is still usually cheaper than EasyJet base fares.

I always go with EasyJet. The seats feel just a tiny bit more comfortable and I've never had a gate agent give me grief about my backpack size.

Ryanair is great if you are traveling light with just a backpack, but once you start adding checked bags, the price difference with legacy carriers like Lufthansa or Air France disappears.

That's a good point! Always check the 'normal' airlines too. Sometimes they have sales that make the budget airlines look like a ripoff.

I once flew Ryanair and they tried to charge me for a printed boarding pass at the airport. Never again.

That happens if you don't check in online, it's clearly stated in the emails they send! Don't blame the airline for your own lack of preparation.

Just pick whichever has the better flight time for your schedule. Both are budget airlines, you're going to be cramped regardless of which logo is on the tail.
